Spyro Reignited Trilogy Review: A Flaming Return

Spyro Reignited Trilogy is the remake of the first three chapters released on the Sony console. A videogame full of memories that reappears in a renewed graphic format. How will the "dragon" most loved by gamers age? Find out in this review!

Spyro Reignited Trilogy has the arduous task of bringing back, after 20 years, a milestone of videogames in vogue. The budget price and a respectable technical sector, combined with the melancholy and memories of long-time players, will surely sell a mountain of copies of the title. But, as seen with Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, this is sometimes not enough!

The work of N he was very good and became an icon for the whole world PlayStation but, proposing the title again today, the limits of the console of the time were too obvious! Woody and not always reliable controls have proved to be a mole capable of ruining what in the collective imagination was an almost perfect Mona Lisa. Will the same fate befall Spyro Regnited Trilogy? Absolutely not! Let's see the reasons.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy: we know the story ...

Spyro's story didn't shine then and it certainly doesn't now! A baby dragon who finds himself the only one to have escaped the attack of Nasty Norc, the antagonist of the game, and consequently also the only one who can restore the kingdom of dragons to normal.

I will not dwell further on the plot of the first chapter and will not mention anything about the stories of the sequels. In the PlayStation 1 generation, it was really difficult to tell an articulate story (unless your name wasn't Hideo Kojima). Furthermore, the title was designed for a fairly low age target. But the fact remains that the title was (and is) enjoyable even by the greatest!

History is the right glue to travel in this and that world without ever wanting to overdo it. Spyro's characterization is well defined and applause goes to the original developers who have created a specific model for each rescued dragon!

Not wanting to tell you more about the history of Spyro Reignited Trilogy, I repeat that even if superficial it remains functional to the videogame.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy: unity is strength!

The force Spyro Reignited Trilogy resides in the collection of the three titles. If the boys of Toys for bob they had focused on the release of a single title probably we would not be here singing the praises of this remake! The mechanics of the first chapter remain very sparse and could hardly have offered a valid entertainment when compared with the "modern game-world".

Although to finish the game at 100% you have to show off creativity, cunning and a bit of madness (not even Dark Souls), the base title offers little variety when compared to what we are used to. Without considering the limited longevity of the same.

Fortunately, all that just said is attenuated thanks to the evolution offered in the three titles. Once you understand the mechanics and after losing about fifteen hours on the first chapter (I speak for those who do not know the title, do not be smart) go into the two sequels and steal the new skills of Spyro it will be very exciting.

The new graphic detail also helps the gameplay of the title a lot, but not without some minor flaws! Understanding how far you can glide is much easier thanks to the well-detailed and pixel-free textures of the first Sony console. However, it is necessary to make a small note on the gameplay-graphics combination.

As mentioned above, to finish the title in its entirety, you have to sharpen your eyes and try some madness. In the original title, however, some details were a bright red that stood out in a less colorful game world. In this remake these details take less vivid colors and could cause frustration to the "new generation"!

Spyro Reignited Trilogy: how cool is this new version?

Spyro Reignited Trilogy is perhaps the best remake seen so far. Strong words but, taking a look at the textures of the landscape, the faces of the main characters and not the jaw drop is guaranteed!

Finally alive colors, landscapes that exude their self. I have found myself more than once contemplating how much diversity there was (finally) between this and that landscape. If you find yourself in a fetid swamp you will feel the unhealthy stench that comes from the gushes in the ground. If you travel among the clowns you will feel like you have entered an Alice in Wonderland page! The clouds, the grass, the sheep and the bad guys: everything returns the same feeling of wonder.

A separate paragraph belongs to Sparks, faithful ally of Spyro in his thousand battles. For those unfamiliar with the title, Sparks is a dragonfly that flies alongside our protagonist and marks our health with its color. Trust my words: it couldn't have been done better. The same goes for the iconic characters of the saga that we will meet along our path.

Despite the profound change, it is to be appreciated the desire and commitment of the Spyro Reignited Trilogy developers who have maintained a deep respect for the original title!

Spyro Reignited Trilogy: who should buy it?

The answer to the question in the title that comes out is: everyone! But of course it can't be!

I recommend the title to those who loved the original version and want to brush up on some memories, but also to those who want to spend a good time with their children or grandchildren. Of course I could also recommend it to lovers of the genre.

Despite the strong limits imposed by the release date of the first version, the competitive price and the large number of contents make the purchase valid for a large number of audiences.

Christmas is coming, if you don't know what to give Spyro Reignited Trilogy might be the right answer!
